Wave 1 | Prompt 4: A sickness that caused societal upheaval
Type: Condition
This is an interesting prompt, specifically the “that caused societal upheaval” part for a condition, since the first wave’s theme is about change.
I had a thought one night about a potential condition caused by drinking the water from the hot springs in the Glistening Meadows.
I simply referred to this condition as “Crystallization,” and it is caused by the consumption of water with a high mineral content, primarily from the hot springs located in the Glistening Meadows.
When the water rapidly cools, mineral precipitation occurs and crystals start to form. These crystals can become quite painful if they grow to a significant size. Despite the phenomenon of rapid cooling leading to the formation of crystals in the water, it seems to have no adverse effects on the dragonkin residing in the Glistening Meadows.
The upheaval part of this is:
When a drink called Crystal Tea (this is what just came to mind) was introduced, there was a significant challenge in ensuring its safety for consumption. This led to the development of a solution involving the insertion of a small crystal into a tea tag. This crystal facilitates the nucleation of crystal growth, effectively remove enough minerals to make the tea safe for consumption.
However, despite the demonstration of the tea’s safety when using the special tea bag, people continued to express reluctance toward drinking it following the initial incident.
